Attention Harry Potter fans! Universal Studios Hollywood will enchant guests this summer with a brand-new experience at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter: “The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle.”
Do you remember the grand opening of the Wizarding World at Universal Hollywood a year ago? John Williams mesmerized guests, conducting a full orchestra playing his themes from the Harry Potter films.
I get goosebumps every time I hear John Williams’ score and see Hogwarts.
What impressed me the most were the projections on the castle from that Premiere. Precisely animated and perfectly themed to the four Houses at Hogwarts: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw.
Here is the video cued up to the projection show.
Blue Ravenclaw ravens, golden Hufflepuff badgers, green Slytherin snakes, and a Gryffindor lion enveloped in crimson fire. Moving staircases, the enchanted Great Hall ceiling, and fireworks… more goosebumps. Hogwarts came alive.
What a truly magical evening! How I wished I could see that in person. Only the privileged few at the premiere had that opportunity.
Now, that dream could become a reality. Universal Studios Hollywood has announced a special summer spectacular: “The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle.”
It promises state-of-the-art projections featuring the four Houses of Hogwarts, with a John Williams score recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra, and presented in multi-channel surround sound.
From the photos released, this appears very similar to the jaw-dropping spectacle from the Wizarding World’s premiere last spring.
Special annual pass previews will be begin in June, with a grand opening date on June 23, 2017. The enchantment is scheduled several times each evening this summer.
Who’s ready for a Butterbeer? Meet me at Hogwarts.
